Business Mentors New Zealand makes available to small business owners the skills and experience of people who have themselves experienced success in business.

Our Mentors

Business Mentors New Zealand mentors are coaches - not consultants. They won.t do the work for you, but they will assist you from their own experience.

Business Mentors New Zealand mentors are:

  • Empathetic
  • Good listeners
  • Sympathetic to the problems of small business
  • Experienced in business
  • Passionate and committed individuals who offer their time, skills and experience on a voluntary basis for the benefit of small business.
  • Providers of opinions and ideas, not professional services

Our mentors do not take the place of professional advisers, and in fact they often will recommend to their clients that they develop a closer relationship with their accountant, bank manager, etc.

Their role is to support and develop, stimulate and challenge. Mentors act as a sounding board for their clients; they walk alongside.

Our Service

Business Mentors New Zealand offers assistance in all areas of business management. Client and mentor are matched according to the skills requested by the client.

Clients get an empathetic person to listen to the challenges and difficulties they face. Sometimes that alone is all that is needed to identify strategies and opportunities for growth.

As a result clients gain confidence in their ability to plan and manage a venture, meet new challenges, and learn how to obtain the skills they need to achieve results.

Michael and Robyn Hughes had consulted a BMNZ Mentor in 1995 and found it so helpful that when they had some new issues which needed a second opinion they called the North Shore Enterprise Agency once again.

Mentor Nelson Tollerton, a retired Company Director and General Manager met with Michael and Robyn and helped them to analyse their needs. An action plan was agreed which included Nelson's recommendation that they join the Employers Federation to obtain advice over a personnel issue, meet with their professional accountant to gain a more intimate knowledge of that side of the business and analyse expenses to see where savings could be made."
